The rate of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries among U.S. youth ages 6 to 18 has increased by more than two percent each year for the past 20 years, says new research published in Pediatrics.

The study also found that the prevalence of ACL tears significantly increased among girls of all ages over the same period, and that girls have higher rates of ACL injuries than boys.
