American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has published revised guidelines on sexual assault screening and treatment for teens.

Adolescents should be routinely asked by pediatricians if they have been sexually assaulted, and youth victims and their families should be referred to appropriate community services, says AAP.

Since the pediatrics group last published guidelines on this issue in 2008, the problem of sexual assault, particularly on college campuses, has gained more public attention.
