What: Signature Event in Celebration of National Drug & Alcohol Facts Week

NOYS Youth Interactive Safety Lab in partnership with BACODA

Where: Nessler Civic Center: 2010 5th Ave N, Texas City, Texas 77590 use south entrance on 5th Ave

When: Wednesday, January 23, 2019 9:30am – 2:00pm (Exhibit set-up 7:30am)

Who: Hundreds of Texas middle, high-school, college students and educators

How: Students will be placed in groups of 15-25 and guided through the individual interactive

stations and exhibit hall.

National Alcohol and Drug Facts Week.

National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week, coordinated by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, is a week-long health observance dedicated to providing youth with the science-based facts about how drugs and alcohol affect the brain, body, and behavior. Events and activities are held during the week of January 22-27, 2019.

Youth Interactive Lab.

NOYS will bring its signature Youth Interactive Safety Lab to the Nessler Civic Center in Texas City, Texas, in support of 2019 National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week. This includes a series of interactive activities using experiential learning to demonstrate and reinforce critical safety messages on the prevention of substance abuse, violence and traffic safety to youth in a fun, engaging way.


  • Use interactive demonstrations to showcase the most prevalent causes of injury and fatalities among teens & young adults
  • Reinforce youth safety messages and thoughtful decision-making
  • Connect youth with peer leaders and professionals to inspire positive action
