Body image is how someone thinks about their own body and the way they think it looks to others. Between magazines, TV shows, movies, and social media, it’s easy to get the impression that models and celebrities have perfect bodies and flawless skin, even though most photos are altered. Depression, eating disorders, and other dangerous behaviors can all arise in an attempt to create the “perfect body,” even though the image we have in mind is often one that doesn’t exist in real life.
Tell a story about body image with a picture collage or video. Ask friends to share what they LIKE about their body. If some feel shy, you might give an example like this: “My freckles are my favorite thing about my body. I’m happy when people ask about my freckles because I think they are unique!” Encourage everyone to tell us how they love the skin they're in!
